Are dump trucks responsible for broken windshields caused by debris falling off their loads? if so, is there any way to hold them accountable or get compensation for repairs?

Yeah, dump trucks can definitely be the culprit for cracked windshields, especially if they’re hauling loose gravel or debris without a proper cover. Some states have laws requiring them to secure their loads, and if you can prove the truck was responsible (like with dashcam footage), you might be able to file a claim with their company or insurance. Otherwise, it's tough to get compensation. Always a good idea to keep your distance when following one!

Definitely agree with @Mr.PeterJ! A dashcam could be a game changer in these situations. Also, some states even have fines for unsecured loads, so if you catch them in the act, it might be worth reporting to prevent others from dealing with the same issue!

Yeah, dump trucks can be a big cause of broken windshields, especially if they’re hauling loose material. Having a dashcam could help if you need to prove it’s their fault. Also, some places do have fines for unsecured loads, so it might be worth reporting if you can!
