Hello everyone,

I’m looking to purchase a log splitter in the 25-30 ton range and wanted to get some input on the best brands out there. From what I’ve seen, brands like Iron & Oak, Brave, Yardmax, and Boss seem to have good reputations. I’ve also heard a few folks mention Dirty Hand Tools and Speeco.

I’m mainly splitting hardwoods like oak and hickory, and I’d like something that will hold up for years. Any recommendations on brands and specific models that have worked well for you? Also, are the higher-end brands like Iron & Oak really worth the extra money?

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Hey Daniel_Jordan, I’ve had great luck with Yardmax for the price with good power and durability for hardwoods like oak and hickory. Iron & Oak is solid if you’re looking for something built to last, though it can be a bit pricier. I’d recommend checking out both and comparing specs, but for the long haul, the higher-end brands are often worth it. :)

I’ve heard good things about Yardmax too, It seems like a great balance of power and price. If you’re splitting a lot of hardwood, Iron & Oak might be worth the extra cost for durability. Have you checked out any hydraulic vs kinetic models?

Yardmax is a solid choice, but if you want something that'll last longer than your woodpile, Iron & Oak might just be your new best friend. Just make sure it doesn’t end up splitting your wallet too! 😅
