Hey everyone,

I recently started a dump truck business, and I'm trying to find reliable ways to get consistent loads. I'm open to different industries—construction, landscaping, hauling, or anything else that might be profitable.

What are the best strategies for finding dump truck loads? Are there any online platforms, broker services, or direct contracting methods that have worked well for you?

Any advice on networking, building relationships with contractors, or using load boards would be greatly appreciated. Also, are there any specific challenges I should watch out for?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey Harold, congrats on starting your dump truck business! A good place to start is checking out load boards like TruckersEdge, DAT, or even specialized ones for construction hauling. Also, networking with local contractors, landscapers, and demolition companies can help you land consistent work. Some guys even find success reaching out to quarries or waste management companies directly. Just be mindful of fuel costs and deadhead miles when planning your hauls. Hope that helps!

Great advice, @Cody Barron! I’ve also heard that city and county contracts can be a solid way to get steady work if you can get approved. Anyone here have experience with government contracts or big construction gigs? Curious how competitive they are to land!

Great insights so far! Load boards like DAT and TruckersEdge seem like a solid starting point, and networking with contractors and quarries can open doors. @Rodney Martin brings up an interesting point. has anyone successfully landed city or county contracts? How competitive are they, and what’s the best way to get started with them?"

Great! Has anyone tried reaching out to larger construction firms directly for regular hauling work, or do you mainly rely on load boards and networking?
