Hey everyone,

I’m learning about forklift safety and was wondering—what site conditions are most likely to cause a tipping hazard for rough terrain forklifts? Are there specific surfaces, slopes, or obstacles that operators should be especially cautious about?

Any insights on how to prevent tipping incidents and best practices for safe operation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Uneven ground, soft soil, and steep slopes are all recipes for a bad day with a rough terrain forklift! Wet or icy conditions can make things even trickier. Best bet is always to check your ground conditions before moving a heavy load, and keep that center of gravity low. Has anyone got a ‘close call’ story to share?

Great points! I’ve also found that obstacles like rocks or debris can throw off your balance, especially if you’re navigating tight spaces. Always check for stability before lifting anything, and if possible, avoid sharp turns on sloped ground. It’s all about keeping things smooth and steady!
