Who Manufactured Bobcat’s First Excavators?

Hey everyone!

I know Bobcat is a big name in compact equipment, but I was wondering who actually manufactured Bobcat’s first excavators? Did they design them in-house, or were they originally built through a partnership with another company?

Would love to hear from anyone familiar with Bobcat’s history or early excavator models!

Good question! If I remember right, Bobcat’s early excavators were actually built through a partnership with a company called X-Change (or maybe another brand). They didn’t start making them fully in-house until later. Curious to see if anyone has more details on the first models!

Hey @Leo Wright, I’ve heard the same—that Bobcat’s early excavators came from a partnership before they brought production in-house. Would be cool to see photos of those first models if anyone’s got ‘em!
