Whose job is it to inspect cranes at the jobsite?

Hey everyone,

I’m curious, whose responsibility is it to inspect cranes at the jobsite? Is it the operator’s job, a designated safety officer, or someone else? How often should these inspections be conducted to ensure everything is up to standard? Also, are there specific qualifications or certifications required for the person doing the inspection? Would love to hear your thoughts on maintaining crane safety on construction sites. Thanks

Great question! Daily inspections are usually the operator’s responsibility, but more detailed weekly or monthly checks are often handled by a qualified person or site safety officer. Just make sure whoever’s doing it knows the OSHA and manufacturer requirements coz crane safety is definitely not something to cut corners on.

Totally agree, crane inspections are no joke. I’ve seen operators do solid daily checks, but for the in-depth stuff, we always have a certified inspector come in. Curious how often everyone else brings in a third party for those more detailed inspections?
